Clinical placements are a substantial and essential element in the UNSW Medicine program.
NSW Health requires all Medicine students undertaking clinical placements at their facilities to be fully compliant with their requirements. All UNSW Medicine students must be compliant for the entire duration of their studies.
UNSW Medicine enters Profile information (name, student ID, gender and year of birth) of students in Medicine program in ClinConnect which is a NSW Health database for managing all clinical training placements at public hospitals in NSW.
Prior to your first clinical training session in Year 1, you are required to email your compliance documentation to NSW Health at SESLHD-StudentCompliance@health.nsw.gov.au for checking and verification.
If you meet their requirements, you will be given a COMPLIANT status in ClinConnect and will recieve a notification. If you are not fully compliant, NSW Health will directly advise of further documentation you need to provide in order to become fully compliant.
UNSW Medicine cannot overrule the decision of NSW Health and your clinical training will be delayed until you have met all requirements.
Students who fail to satisfy the requirements of NSW Health at any point during their enrolment in the program may be excluded from undertaking a clinical placement. This will delay progress in the program and may ultimately lead to exclusion from the program.
