University teaching sessions are generally split into two semesters. However the first year of Medicine is conducted in four teaching periods, two per semester. Each of these Medicine teaching periods (TPs) is 8 weeks in length and consists of four courses:
When you receive your offer, there are two things you have to do.
Medicine Teaching Period 1 (M1A) | MFAC 1501 | Foundations - class number 3572 |
Medicine Teaching Period 2 (M1B) | MFAC 1521 | Beginnings, Growth & Development A (BGD-A) - class number 3575 |
On myUNSW, you may see references to M1A or M1B. These are the same as TP1 and TP2.
Once you have enrolled, all correspondence will be directed to your UNSW student email account.
When you accept your offer, you will be asked to create a password (zPass) and to set up your zMail account. You will require your student ID and zMail account to obtain complete access to information on the UNSW Medicine website. Students are required to consult their university email account frequently as well as the noticeboards in the various Schools. UNSW regards email as an official means of communication and students should note that failure to access their University email account (or an alternate email account to which the University email account is forwarded) is never an acceptable reason for not being aware of important information transmitted by email.
Please ensure that your address and contact details are up to date. You can do this in myUNSW (click the “My Student Profile” tab and scroll down to “Address” in the Personal Details section of the left-hand side panel).
Information about program content, assessment procedures, rules of progression and University regulations can be found at http://www.my.unsw.edu.au
For medical students, unlike other UNSW students, timetable information is NOT available on myUNSW.
UNSW Medicine has developed a web-based program, known as eMed, which is used by staff and students for access to the curriculum, timetabling of teaching activities, assignment and project submission and marking, and the release of exam results.
Timetable is updated regularly and advised to check for activities.
eMed can be accessed via the UNSW Medicine website here or click here for a direct link to eMed.
If you wish to defer your enrolment, follow the instructions included in your offer letter. Please note that admission cannot be deferred once enrolment has been completed, but under certain circumstances students are permitted to discontinue and take leave for the rest of the year. During the period of deferment you are not permitted to enrol in any other tertiary program in a Commonwealth-Supported Place.
